| 背面描述 | A tall lighthouse rendered in fine engraved detail, its beams radiating dramatically across the field, with turbulent waves breaking at its base and a small figure visible to the right. The denomination TWENTY DOLLARS is inscribed in a curved legend across the upper field, flanked by raised dots, and the date 1971 appears in the lower exergue, all within a beaded border. |

Issued to mark the first year of Bahamian independence preparations, this $20 gold piece was part of a multi-denomination proof gold set released by the newly established Central Bank of the Bahamas. The Bahamas achieved full independence from Britain in July 1973, making 1971 issues transitional in character — struck under the Crown yet clearly anticipating a sovereign monetary future. The series was produced in limited quantities primarily for collector sale, and saw virtually no circulation.
