Reverse description The reverse presents a highly detailed allegorical scene commemorating Marco Polo's audience at the court of Kublai Khan. In the left foreground, a bearded Marco Polo, robed in medieval travelling attire, kneels in a posture of deference before a grand ornate staircase. At the top of the staircase, Kublai Khan stands enthroned in regal imperial dress, holding a sceptre. A pavilion suggestive of Far Eastern architecture is visible in the upper left background field. The denomination '$20' appears to the lower left, the inscription 'MARCO POLO AT KUBLAI KHAN'S COURT' is engraved in the central lower field, and the legend '13TH CENTURY' arcs prominently along the upper rim, with the Franklin Mint mark 'FM' at the lower right.
