| Beschrijving keerzijde | Colorized proof reverse depicting a dramatic Atlantic coastal scene set within the outline of a vibrant red-enameled maple leaf dominating the upper field. A tall lighthouse rises from a rocky promontory at center, rendered in fine relief against the colored maple leaf background. In the lower field, colorized red-tinted ocean waves surround a breaching whale's tail flukes at center, evoking the marine wildlife of Canada's Atlantic seaboard. The date 2017 appears at the lower left of the scene, with the engraver's initials CA at lower right, and the inscriptions CANADA and 20 DOLLARS are arranged in a curved legend along the lower border. |

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's long-running "Scenic Relief" series, which pioneered the use of selective gold plating and frosted high-relief sculpting on bullion-adjacent collector issues throughout the 2010s. The Atlantic Coast release draws on a coastline that shaped the earliest European mapping of North America — the shores charted by Cabot, Cartier, and Champlain.
The .9999 fine silver specification places it among the purest standard coin silver commercially produced anywhere at the time of issue.
