Liberia's extensive foreign-collector series from the early 2000s — of which this is a typical product — was issued with virtually no domestic circulation intent. These coins were minted in bulk by private minting houses in Europe and sold directly to the international numismatic market, using Liberia's legal tender framework as a licensing arrangement rather than any genuine monetary function.

Solomos died in 1857 having completed almost none of his major works. The full text of the Greek national anthem exists only because a colleague reconstructed it from scattered manuscripts after his death.
