At upper left, the Sopwith Camel biplane represents the First World War era and the RCAF's early years; at upper right, the iconic Supermarine Spitfire recalls RCAF squadrons' service in the Second World War. Dominating the foreground in a bold, modern rendering is the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II stealth fighter, symbolising the RCAF's future. The RCAF motto SIC ITUR AD ASTRA arcs near the top of the field, the date range 1924–2024 is inscribed centrally, and the RCAF roundel appears at the bottom centre. The legend CANADA is positioned along the upper rim, and the engraver's initials DMG appear in the field. |
