| Beschrijving voorzijde | Left-facing effigy of King Charles III depicted in civilian dress — suit and tie — rendered in high relief against a field partially treated with black rhodium plating, which imparts a dark, atmospheric quality consistent with the series theme. The legend CANADA · 2025 arcs along the upper border, while CHARLES III and D · G · REX appear flanking the portrait on the left and right respectively. The denomination 20 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower margin. The coin's fan-shaped puzzle format imparts a curved upper edge, with engraved flowing lines suggesting a nocturnal forest canopy in the background field. |

The Moon Phases series from the Royal Canadian Mint uses selective black rhodium plating to create the darkened sky field — a technically demanding process that requires precise masking during the plating stage to preserve the polished relief of the lunar surface itself. Rhodium, a platinum-group metal, is applied in extremely thin deposits measured in microns; too heavy a coat obscures fine detail, too light and the contrast fails entirely.
KM#3593–3599 spans seven coins, each capturing a distinct lunar phase across the synodic cycle. The series was issued under Charles III's effigy following his accession after Elizabeth II's death in September 2022 — his first appearance on Canadian collector coinage of this type.
