In the left foreground stands a tall white-blossoming tachibana (mandarin orange) tree with green foliage, a traditional symbol of the Imperial Court. To the right, a golden Ho-o (phoenix) bird stands in profile amid stylised plumage, representing imperial virtue and auspiciousness.
