The cougar series has been a recurring vehicle for the Royal Canadian Mint's ultra-fine .9999 silver production, a purity standard the RCM has leaned into heavily since the mid-2000s as a point of commercial differentiation. Charles III's effigy appears here in its early canonical form, following his accession in September 2022 — one of the first generations of Canadian coinage to carry his portrait across a full wildlife series run.
