| 表面の説明 | The national coat of arms of Liberia is centrally displayed, featuring a sailing ship on the sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun on the shoreline, with a dove in flight above; a scroll at the base bears the legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA, and a banner above the shield reads THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The circumferential legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs around the upper field, bordered by a beaded inner rim. The date 2001 is divided by the shield, with '20' to the left and '01' to the right. |

Borsig was founded in Berlin in 1837 and within a decade had become one of the most prolific locomotive manufacturers in Europe, eventually producing over 15,000 engines before the firm's various postwar successor entities dissolved. Liberia's early 2000s commemorative program issued dozens of such industrial-themed pieces aimed squarely at the thematic collector market, with subjects ranging across locomotives, ships, and engineers of the 19th century.
The series had no connection to Liberian monetary history or circulation — these were struck for export sale from the outset.
