| Aanvullende informatie |
Liberia's late-1990s and early-2000s commemorative program was one of the most prolific — and most criticized — in modern numismatic history. The country licensed its mint authority to private producers, primarily in Germany and China, resulting in hundreds of issues bearing the Liberian name with no meaningful connection to the country itself. This piece is a product of that arrangement. It was never intended for Liberian circulation and was sold directly into the collector market.
The Berlin issue commemorates the German capital following reunification and the massive reconstruction effort centered on Potsdamer Platz through the late 1990s.
