20 Dollars Battle of Midway

Liberia built a substantial revenue stream in the early 2000s issuing commemorative silver dollars and larger denominations for the international collector market, none of which saw domestic circulation in a country then emerging from civil war. The Battle of Midway, fought June 4–7, 1942, was the turning point of the Pacific theater — four Japanese fleet carriers lost in a single engagement, a blow the Imperial Japanese Navy never recovered from.

The coin was produced for export, almost certainly by a European contract mint.
