| 备注 |
The Bank of Montreal's 1935 series came at a moment of institutional anxiety. The Bank of Canada had been established that same year, taking over the exclusive right to issue notes in Canada — though chartered banks were permitted a transitional period to keep their own currency in circulation. This $20 note is a product of that window, issued by a private bank already aware its note-issuing days were numbered.
Jackson Dodds served as General Manager, C.B. Gordon as President. The Canadian Bank Note Company printed the run in Ottawa, as it had for the Bank of Montreal through much of the twentieth century. Chartered bank notes were finally withdrawn from circulation in 1950.
