| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a sailing ship approaching a shoreline backed by a palm tree and a rising sun, with a plow and dove above, all within a shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper rim, with the denomination $20 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower rim. The date 1997 is divided at left and right of the shield in the field. A secondary scroll at the base of the arms repeats REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA. The entire design is executed in high-relief proof finish against a mirror field. |
