Obverse description The full national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a three-masted sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, a rising sun, a plough and a shovel, all surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE.' The legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' arcs along the upper periphery, with '20 DOLLARS' inscribed along the lower periphery. The date '2000' is split across the lower field on either side of the shield, with '20' to the left and '00' to the right. An inner border of denticles frames the entire design.
