Micronesia uses the US dollar as its official currency and has done so since 1944 — it issues no banknotes of its own through any central bank. This note is a fantasy or novelty item, not legal tender, and was never authorized by the Federated States of Micronesia government or any recognized monetary authority. Franck Medina is a French designer associated with producing exactly these kinds of collectible polymer pieces marketed to the souvenir and novelty trade.
