Central vignette of the national arms, flanked by decorative traditional motifs and a stylised tribal figure to the right; the Solomon Islands flag appears to the left within a guilloche underprint. The serial number is printed twice, in black at left and in red vertically at right. Two facsimile signatures appear below the arms, captioned 'Governor' and 'Secretary, Finance', with the legal tender legend 'THIS NOTE IS LEGAL TENDER FOR TWENTY DOLLARS IN SOLOMON ISLANDS' above. A lower border panel carries an intaglio vignette of two stylised swordfish. |

A central vignette portrays a traditional ceremonial gathering or dance, with figures in customary dress before a thatched structure, rendered in fine intaglio line work. To the right stands a decorated ceremonial post or drum, set against a large latent guilloche watermark panel. Decorative traditional carvings and geometric border elements frame the composition, with the denomination numeral '20' at each upper corner and the denomination in words at centre. |

The P#21 series was introduced as part of a broader redesign that consolidated several denominations under a unified thematic approach tied to local cultural heritage. Thomas De La Rue handled the print run from their London facility, as they did for the majority of Pacific Island note production through this period — the Solomon Islands had no domestic printing infrastructure and relied entirely on contracted foreign printers throughout the twentieth century.
Security provisions on this issue are modest by later standards: a plain security thread and watermark only, with no metallic or color-shifting elements. De La Rue would upgrade the series within a few years.
