| Opmerkingen |
The Bank of Acadia was one of the shortest-lived chartered banks in Nova Scotia's history, operating for only a few years before failing in the 1870s — a period when dozens of small Maritime banks collapsed under the pressure of Confederation-era financial consolidation and competition from the expanding chartered banks of central Canada. Notes from this issuer are rare precisely because so few circulated before the bank ceased operations.
Canada Bank Note Printing was still establishing itself in Montreal during this period, handling work for a number of regional issuers that the larger American security printers had previously dominated.
