Obverse description The quartered coat of arms of Andorra occupies the central field, displaying the traditional heraldic divisions of the Bishop of Urgell and the Count of Foix. The shield is encircled by a ring of twelve five-pointed stars connected by a decorative rope or cord border, evoking the European Community motif. The circular legend JOAN D.M. BISBE D'URGELL I PRINCEP D'ANDORRA runs around the outer periphery, with the denomination ECU inscribed below the shield within the star ring. The overall design is rendered in matte relief against a smooth field, with a beaded border at the rim.
