Additional information

Tunisia declared itself a republic on July 25, 1957, exactly one year after Habib Bourguiba had been proclaimed president following the formal deposition of the bey. The 1967 issue marks ten years from that date. Trial pieces of this type were struck in base metal with applied gold plating rather than solid gold, a practice used to test dies and assess design approval before committing to precious metal production runs.

Reverse trials isolate one die face for examination — a production-stage artifact, not a circulating or commemorative coin in the conventional sense.
