| Aanvullende informatie |
Tunisia's 1967 gold issue commemorated a decade of independence from France, which had come in March 1956 after negotiations rather than armed conflict — a relatively unusual path to sovereignty for the region. Bourguiba's government used commemorative coinage aggressively in these years as a foreign-currency earner and diplomatic instrument, with much of each issue directed toward international coin markets rather than domestic circulation.
At 38 grams in .900 gold, most examples were preserved from the moment of issue. Genuine circulation examples are essentially nonexistent.
