Obverse description Intaglio portrait of King Hussein bin Talal in civilian dress set within an oval vignette at left center, against a multicolored guilloche underprint with floral and arabesque motifs. The denomination in Arabic script appears at center right, with two signature lines below captioned المحافظ (Governor) and وزير المالية (Minister of Finance). Denomination numerals 20 appear at each corner, with ornate scrollwork borders framing the entire face.

Reverse description The upper half of the reverse carries an intaglio aerial vignette of the Hussein Thermal Power Station at Zerqa, with its industrial complex of chimneys and cooling towers rendered in fine line engraving. Below, a landscape vignette of an olive orchard is shown in a contrasting pastoral scene, with an olive branch motif repeated in color at left and right margins. The date appears in both Western and Arabic-Indic numerals at lower center, flanked by the English and Arabic inscriptions identifying both vignettes.
