| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King Peter II occupies the central field, the youthful portrait rendered with fine detail in the truncation of which the engraver's abbreviated signature F · DINČIĆ appears. A circular legend reading PETAR II KRALJ JUGOSLAVIJE runs along the periphery, separated from the bust by a narrow border. The overall style reflects the academic portraiture tradition common to interwar European coinage. |

| Reverse description | A large crowned double-headed eagle dominates the central field, its wings displayed and a heraldic shield bearing the royal arms of Yugoslavia positioned on its breast. The date 1938 is divided by the eagle's body, with the numerals 19 and 38 flanking it on either side. The denomination 20 DINARA is inscribed in the lower exergual area beneath the eagle. The design follows the established Yugoslav royal heraldic tradition, rendered with bold relief typical of the period. |
