| Obverse description | Arnold Machin's draped bust of Queen Elizabeth II facing right, wearing a tiara, occupies the central field. The legend ELIZABETH II is inscribed along the upper left rim and D·G·REGINA along the upper right rim, both in raised Latin characters. The date 1976 appears in the lower exergue beneath the portrait. The effigy is rendered in high relief against a smooth, polished field, characteristic of Machin's portrait used on Commonwealth coinage of the period. |
