The vignette is flanked symmetrically by ornate guilloche scrollwork panels bearing the numeral 20, and the bank title BANCO NACIONAL DE COSTA RICA / DEPARTAMENTO EMISOR runs across the top. The denomination VEINTE COLONES appears in bold lettering at the foot of the note, with XX counters at each corner and the printer's imprint below.
