Lithuania's first independent central bank opened in 1922, and the early note issues reflected the scramble to establish a functioning currency before infrastructure caught up with ambition. The 20 Centų was a provisional stopgap — the banking system was not yet equipped to produce a full series, so these early denominations were essentially placeholders while the permanent litas-based notes were designed and contracted abroad.
Pick 3 is among the scarcest of the 1922 provisionals. Low face value meant heavy handling and rapid attrition in circulation.
