| Obverse description | The obverse features a small inset circular medallion in the upper left portion of the asymmetric butterfly wing-shaped flan, bearing the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II above and SAMOA to the right, with the denomination 20 Cents inscribed below the portrait. The remainder of the obverse field displays a highly stylized relief depiction of a coiled snake viewed from above, with its head rendered in high relief at center, exhibiting slit pupils and spotted scale patterning.
