Reverse description The reverse of this butterfly wing-shaped coin displays a large, stylized frontal dragon head in high relief at centre, rendered in a distinctly East Asian artistic tradition with expressive eyes set with black crystal inserts, flaming mane, and open maw with curling whiskers. The holographic honeycomb background field shimmers across the entire surface, accented by sweeping engraved swirl lines evoking movement and energy. The Chinese character 龙 (dragon) appears in raised relief within a defined panel at the upper right of the field. The word DRAGON is inscribed in raised Latin letters along the lower portion of the field.

Additional information

Samoa has issued a substantial run of lunar-themed bullion and collector pieces over the past two decades, largely distributed through European trading houses rather than through any domestic numismatic market. This 2023 dragon issue follows that pattern. There is nothing technically notable about the strike or the series.
