| Obverse description | Set within a circular inset in the upper left of the butterfly wing-shaped flan, the right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II appears in high relief against a dark field, surrounded by the legend ELIZABETH II above and SAMOA to the right. The denomination 20 Cents is inscribed below the portrait within the inset. The broader field of the flan features an elaborate holographic honeycomb lattice background overlaid with dynamic swirling line motifs, and a boldly rendered high-relief frontal dragon head occupies the central lower portion of the coin.
