Obverse description Laureate and draped bust of Queen Victoria facing left, her hair elegantly bound with a laurel wreath and arranged in ringlets at the nape, rendered in high relief in the style of Leonard Charles Wyon. The legend VICTORIA D : G : REG: is distributed along the upper periphery, interrupted by the portrait, while NEWFOUNDLAND curves along the lower periphery. The field is polished and deeply mirrored, consistent with specimen or proof striking. A fine dentilated border frames the entire design.
