20 Cents Tsonga - Tswana

Part of the South African Mint's ongoing cultural series replacing the earlier wildlife reverse designs, this issue reflects the post-apartheid constitutional framework that recognizes eleven official languages — Tsonga and Tswana among them. The mint has cycled through these linguistic and cultural pairings across denominations since the series was introduced, using coinage as one of the few physical objects that reaches all economic strata of the population equally.
