Peaceful River Bar was almost certainly a tavern or saloon-style establishment issuing its own scrip for use within the premises — a practice that persisted in parts of rural America well into the 1960s, particularly in areas with limited cash liquidity or where the proprietor wanted to keep spending on-site. The specific location of this bar has not been firmly established in the numismatic literature, which is itself telling: these hyper-local issues were rarely documented at the time of printing.
Paper tavern scrip from this period is frequently found in poor condition due to constant handling in a single venue. One or two print runs would cover the establishment's entire operational need.
