20 Cents Kgalagadi Transfrontier Peace Park

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park was established in 2000 as one of the world's first formal peace parks — a cross-border conservation agreement between South Africa and Botswana that effectively merged the former Gemsbok National Park with the Kalahari Gemsbok National Park. The 2007 commemorative issue marks that political achievement, which itself emerged from post-apartheid diplomatic normalization making such bilateral arrangements newly possible.
