| Reverse description | The reverse is divided into two registers separated by a horizontal rule. The upper register features a pad-printed colour illustration of Edward the Emu lying down, rendered in the style of the original 1988 children's book by Sheena and Rod Tritton, with the anniversary legend 35TH ANNIVERSARY arching along the upper border. The lower register displays the gold-plated relief busts of four animal characters from the book — an emu (upper left), a wolf or dingo (lower left), a snake (upper right), and a goanna or lizard (lower right) — flanking the bold incuse legend EDWARD THE EMU in the centre of the field. The denomination 20 appears in the exergue below a second horizontal rule. |
