| Reverse description | Elaborately detailed field densely filled with Chinese calligraphic characters and auspicious symbols in the ancient coin bi-disc tradition, surrounding a central round hole. A sinuous dragon rendered in high relief occupies the upper half, coiling around the hole, while a phoenix with outspread wings fills the lower half, the two mythical creatures together symbolising marital harmony. The Chinese character for fortune (福) appears prominently above the hole between the creatures. The entire border is densely covered with Chinese characters, seals, and traditional good-luck motifs, executed in antiqued copper with exceptional sculptural depth. |
