Issued as part of the Royal Australian Mint's ongoing commemorative program marking Australian rock acts, this piece honors AC/DC's 1995 album Ballbreaker — the band's first studio recording following the return of drummer Phil Rudd, who had left acrimoniously in 1983. The pad printing process, applied directly onto the coin's surface rather than through traditional die engraving, was still relatively novel for circulating-format issues at this point in the Mint's production history.
