Part of the Royal Australian Mint's 2017 centenary commemorative program marking the WWI service medals issued to Australian personnel, this 20-cent release was one of several circulating commemoratives that year cycling through Australia's cash supply alongside standard coinage. The Victory Medal, awarded to all who served in a theatre of war between 1914 and 1918, was issued to approximately 300,000 Australians — one of the highest per-capita rates of any Allied nation relative to population.
