Issued to mark the centenary of the Anzac landings at Gallipoli, this coin was part of a broader Australian commemorative program running from 2014 to 2018 covering the full span of World War I. The nursing contingent it honors — predominantly members of the Australian Army Nursing Service — served in conditions ranging from hospital ships in the Aegean to forward casualty stations on the Western Front, with 25 Australian nurses killed during the conflict.
