Additional information

Australia's International Women's Day 20-cent piece was issued in 2011 to mark the centenary of IWD, which was first observed in 1911 following a declaration by the Second International Conference of Working Women. The Royal Australian Mint has periodically colourised or privy-marked circulating 20-cent pieces for commemorative release, and this issue follows that pattern — intended for general circulation rather than collector sets alone.

The fourth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Ian Rank-Broadley, had been in use on Australian coinage since 1999.
