The "Australian Miniature Money" series was the Royal Australian Mint's answer to a collector market increasingly demanding novelty formats — striking legal-tender coins at fractions of their standard production weight. At 0.5 g of .9999 fine gold, this piece contains so little metal that its collectible premium over spot has always dwarfed any intrinsic value consideration.
