Obverse description The fourth portrait effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley faces right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, positioned at the upper centre of the coin. The Australian Commonwealth coat of arms is depicted prominently in the central field, featuring a kangaroo and an emu as supporters flanking a quartered shield, surmounted by a seven-pointed Commonwealth Star, with a scroll below bearing the motto ADVANCE AUSTRALIA. A decorative border of raised beads encircles the entire design. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the left periphery, AUSTRALIA 2016 along the right, and FIFTY YEARS curves along the lower margin, all in incuse Latin lettering.
