The 1995 Australian 20-cent commemorative marked the United Nations' fiftieth anniversary, one of dozens of national issues released worldwide that year under broadly coordinated commemorative programs. Australia's participation was straightforward — the Royal Australian Mint had been producing circulating commemoratives with increasing frequency through the 1990s, and the UN jubilee fit neatly into that production calendar.
