Part of the Royal Australian Mint's ongoing "Wind Up" series, which began as an accessible entry point for children into coin collecting, this 2024 issue pairs the first circulating portrait of Charles III on Australian coinage with one of the country's most recognizable endemic mammals. The coronation portrait by British sculptor Martin Jennings was adopted by Australia for circulation coinage following Charles's accession in September 2022.
