Additional information

New Zealand's 2024 coinage marked the first update to the obverse portrait since the transition from Elizabeth II, requiring the Royal Mint to adopt Jody Clark's effigy of Charles III — the same portrait already in use across other Commonwealth issues. The Pukaki designation refers to Lake Pūkaki in the Mackenzie Basin, part of the ongoing geographic series on New Zealand's circulating coinage. This particular piece is non-magnetic copper-nickel, distinguishing it from any future magnetic steel planchet variants, and was released in set format rather than through general circulation channels.
