Australia's 20-cent piece has carried the same platypus reverse since 1966, making it one of the longest-unchanged circulating coin designs in the country's decimal history. The portrait change here is purely dynastic — Charles III's effigy replacing Elizabeth II's following her death in September 2022, with the Jody Clark obverse portrait adopted across Commonwealth issues.
