| Obverse description | The obverse features the coat of arms of South Africa centrally positioned in the field, depicting a shield supported by two human figures above crossed spears and a knobkierie, surmounted by a secretary bird with outstretched wings and a protea flower at its base, all enclosed within a laurel wreath.
