20 Céntimos Pont de Suert

Pont de Suert is a small town in the Alta Ribagorça comarca of Lleida, deep in the Pyrenees. During the Spanish Civil War, the Republican government's collapse of normal monetary supply forced hundreds of Catalan municipalities — including the most remote — to print their own emergency fractional currency. This note is one of those local necessities: produced at the Imprenta Tremp press in the nearby town of Tremp, which served as a regional printing hub for several such municipally-issued pieces across the comarca.

The sole security feature is an official stamp applied at point of issue — thin protection, but consistent with the improvised nature of the entire wartime municipalist currency system.
