目录
| 正面描述 | The national coat of arms of São Tomé and Príncipe is depicted centrally, consisting of a shield charged with a palm tree, supported by a falcon on the left and a parrot on the right. A black star surmounts the shield. Two ribbon banners flank the composition, bearing the country's official name above and the national motto below. The date of issue appears within the design, and the legend encircles the arms in the field. |

São Tomé and Príncipe reintroduced its own currency, the dobra, in 1977 after independence from Portugal, but the island nation's monetary policy remained heavily constrained by its dependence on cocoa export revenues and successive IMF stabilization programs. The 2017 coinage series was issued under a currency board arrangement pegging the dobra to the euro at a fixed rate, a structure formalized in 2010 that effectively transferred monetary policy decisions to Lisbon.
