Uruguay's 1976 military government was in its third year of consolidating power when this pattern was struck — a period of intense institutional reshuffling that saw the Banco Central issuing numerous trial pieces as it rationalized the national coinage. KM#PnD108 is one of several aluminium patterns from this cycle that never advanced to circulation, likely displaced by the copper-clad steel composition ultimately adopted for the denomination.
