Beschrijving voorzijde The Cuban national coat of arms occupies the central field, rendered in relief with the characteristic shield displaying a key between two promontories and a rising sun, surmounted by the Phrygian cap and flanked by an oak branch and laurel branch. The country name REPUBLICA DE CUBA arcs as a curved legend along the upper periphery, while the denomination VEINTE CENTAVOS curves along the lower periphery. A continuous row of denticles runs close to the rim, framing the design. The piece is an obverse trial strike, with only this die employed.

Beschrijving keerzijde The reverse die was not employed for this trial striking, leaving the reverse face entirely blank and uninscribed. The flat, unadorned field shows only the natural surface of the planchet with no design elements, legends, or devices of any kind, consistent with its classification as a one-sided obverse trial piece.

Aanvullende informatie

Cuba produced a small series of platinum trial strikes in 1969 to test die alignment and planchet behavior ahead of circulating coinage production — platinum's density and malleability made it occasionally useful for proofing work where precise metal flow data was needed. Whether this piece originated at the Casa de la Moneda or was struck under contract elsewhere remains unclear from surviving mint records.
