| Beschrijving voorzijde | The Honduran national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting a volcanic pyramid without clouds set within an oval cartouche, flanked by two standing deer and crossed cannons below, with a quiver of arrows at the base. The shield is supported by a laurel and oak branch wreath, surmounted by a Phrygian cap atop a pole. The circular legend REPUBLICA DE HONDURAS arcs along the upper periphery, while the date 1967 is positioned in the lower exergue. The design is rendered in a crisp relief characteristic of the milled coinage of this period. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | A left-facing portrait bust of Lempira, the renowned 16th-century Lenca chieftain and national hero of Honduras, dominates the central field, adorned with a traditional feathered headdress and a draped garment at the shoulder. The effigy is set within a recessed circular relief, lending a cameo-like appearance to the design. The denomination legend 20 CENTAVOS DE LEMPIRA arcs along the upper periphery in bold Latin lettering. The reverse field is otherwise plain, with a fine beaded border encircling the entire design. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Honduras transitioned its smaller circulating coinage to copper-nickel during the 1960s as rising silver prices made the previous alloy economically untenable — a shift common across Latin America in that decade. The 1967 date falls within a period of relative monetary stability under the administration of Oswaldo López Arellano, whose first government maintained the lempira's peg to the US dollar at two to one, a fixed rate that had held since 1926.
